Popular Science has a great story about a toymaker's quest to create colored bubbles. It seems like a pretty simple idea, but it turns out they had to get a dye scientist to invent a new kind of dye to get it to work. It's a pretty cool article. It also talks about how this new dye, which is vibrant but which disappears after a little while may have a lot more awesome uses than coloring bubbles. Check it out.
