I saw District 9 the other day and it was really good! I didn't really know what to expect from the trailer, which maybe seemed a little heavy handed in ways, but the movie turned out to be pretty different than it looks like there. It's in a semi-documentary style, which only kind of works. And there are some things that are kinda implausible. But overall it was really pretty great. It's sorta hard to say why without going into a lot of specifics, but I'd recommend it!
